Towamencin Township officials are considering a new master plan for Firehouse Park, which will be re-named to honor veterans. The 19-acre park is on Bustard Road, near the main fire station. The plan calls for more parking, educational signs telling the stories of local veterans, and a restored 19th century cannon, at a total cost of nearly $1 million. Landscape Architect Chris Green says approving the plan will get the funding process going.
“Basically they accept the plan and then they can start shopping it out and try to get funding for the project to make it happen.”
The township supervisors could vote on the master plan as soon as Wednesday, August 25. Once they approve it they can apply for state grants and Montgomery County open space funds to pay for the park upgrades.
