A Hatfield company that makes meters and other precision measuring devices is expanding and upgrading its headquarters. Montgomery County Economic Development Director Ken Klothen says the Brooks Instrument Company is combining two divisions by moving one from Texas to its main building on West Vine Street in Hatfield.
“This would require them to build at their location a Clean Room, which is a production facility for production of high-tech measuring devices that excludes dust and other contaminants that have to be excluded for the manufacture of these very sensitive devices. Moving that operation to Hatfield will create 113 jobs over two years, the company estimates.”
Klothen says Brooks Instrument is using a $50,000 grant through the Montgomery County Industrial Development Authority and a little over $500,000 in state grants and tax credits to help pay for the $3.2 million project. He says the new employees will move into un-used space. The company currently employs 204 people in Hatfield.
