Another McNeil Product Recalled

tylenolJohnson and Johnson has recalled one more product made at its McNeil Consumer Healthcare Fort Washington plant, even though the company closed it more than five months ago. The latest recall is for Tylenol 8-Hour Caplets in 50-count bottles.  J-and-J recalled liquid Children’s Tylenol, Motrin, Benadryl and other products in April, after the Food and Drug Administration found bacteria and other contaminants in raw ingredients used to make them.  As the year went on, the company also recalled contact lenses, blood glucose test strips and hip implants.  U.S. sales of non-prescription medicines fell by 40 percent in the third quarter of this year, as the embarrassing string of recalls combined with the recession to drive shoppers to cheaper store brands.   The company says the Fort Washington plant is getting a major overhaul, it will not re-open until late next year, and laid-off employees who are re-hired will get new training.
