Residents of Plymouth, Whitpain and Worcester Townships Monday had the opportunity to get an update on the widening of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension in their communities. Construction is currently in progress on the six mile stretch of the toll road between the Midcounty Interchange and Berks Road. The initial steps include clearing the trees along the right-of-way adjacent the highway. Turnpike officials say every effort will be made to keep dirt where it belongs once the digging starts in earnest. They also say the contractors will do their best to keep the noise down. Another public update session about the project is scheduled for July 21st at the Montgomery County Fire Academy on Conshohocken Road in Plymouth Township.
