A Bucks County hospital has broken ground for a major expansion project. Saint Mary Medical Center near Langhorne will re-design and nearly double the size of its Emergency and Trauma Center. It will have 80 treatment areas, up from the current 40, enabling it to treat 100,000 emergency patients per year, up from the current 70,000. It will also have a Rapid Assessment Unit, providing quicker care for people with lesser injuries or illnesses who may not have to be admitted to the hospital.
