Towamencin Opts Out

The Towamencin Township Supervisors are not on board with the Montgomery County plan to upgrade its emergency radio system.   The plan calls for police officers out in the field to use digital units in place of the analog equipment they currently have.   It would cost the township almost $185,000 for the 26 new radios the police department would need.   Supervisor Chairman Dan Littley says there are still alot of unanswered questions about the upgrade and with so much money at stake, it would be nice to have some answers.   He also says there is a good chance the township will be in noncompliance with an FCC mandate to get off analog by the end of the year but Littley says the county is responsible for that because it has been procrastinating about the upgrade.
