A short stretch of Allentown Road, at the border between Hatfield and Franconia Townships, closes Friday, October 30. PennDot’s Charles Metzger says crews will rebuild 200 feet of roadway to finish the Wambold Road intersection, which is part of the Route 309-Sumneytown Pike Connector. He says work at the Sumneytown Pike end is also nearing completion.
“The new section has been open to traffic for a couple of months now and the old section, which will be turned over to the township, will be called Mainland Road. It is currently under construction to get it up and ready for traffic.”
Metzger says the work at Allentown and Wambold Roads should be finished in about five weeks, and the work on the old section of Sumneytown Pike, to be re-named Mainland Road, should be finished by mid-December.
