Tax Prep Volunteers Needed

united_wayThe North Penn United Way is looking for volunteers to help low and middle-income residents of the North Penn-Indian Valley area prepare their income tax returns. An Americorps-Vista worker at the United Way, Marykate Nicolai, says no experience is needed and they have several kinds of work available.

“One of them is being a preparer and completing the tax returns for the clients, and they are trained for free through IRS materials, but we also have a greeter-screener position that welcomes clients and checks their documents to make sure that they did bring everything, as well as quality reviewers who check to make sure that everything was entered correctly.”

Nicolai says volunteers are asked to commit to one four-hour session per week through the tax season, starting in January and ending April 15.  She says volunteers should come in as soon as possible to get trained and IRS certified before people need help with their taxes.  For more information call the North Penn United Way at 215-855-3002 or go to This email address is being protected from spambots.
