The Montgomery Township Fire Department is getting a state grant of nearly $12,000. Township Fire Services Director Richard Lesniak says about half of it will pay for Buddy Breathers, which let firefighters tap into someone else’s air cylinder if their supply runs low.
“They go into the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, and they would be able to share the air that was in the other cylinder for the other firefighter.”
The other half of the grant will pay for meters that test the air for dangerous gases at fire scenes.
