5th District Firefighter Awards

Dozens of firefighters from the North Penn and Indian Valleys broke bread together Wednesday night before honoring six of their own.   Telford Volunteer Fire Company Engineer Frank Strenk received the President's Award for almost 15-years of dedication and service.   Upper Gwynedd Fire Department First Responder Brandon Hertzog was recognized as the Firefighter of the Year.   He rescued an unconscious elderly woman from an apartment house fire last September.   Long time North Penn Volunteer Fire Company member Skip Schiele received the prestigious Earl Mayers Award.   Worcester Volunteer Fire Department members Ron Lutz and Pam McClure as well as Dave Renner of the Volunteer Medical Service Corps were recognized with Special Merit Awards.   The Centre Square Fire Company was named Department of the Year for its efforts to raise money for cancer research.
