About 150 firefighters from the North Penn and Indian Valleys got together at the Perserverance Volunteer Fire Company in Souderton for the eleventh annual water battle organized by the Fifth Fire District of Montgomery County. The competition included a good old fashioned tug-of-war and an 18th century style bucket brigade. There was also a keg on the wire match where two opposing squads of firefighters took aim with their hoses on a target suspended from a cable high above the ground and tried to move it past their opponents. Organizers of the water battle say it fosters a spirit of cooperation among the members of more than a dozen fire companies.
