A Montgomery County judge has given a woman 3 ½ to 7 years in state prison for the repeated sexual and physical abuse of a teenage girl. Judge William Furber found 44-year-old Kathleen Chozas of Needham Circle in Hatfield Township guilty of aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child and other offenses in December. The girl was 14 at the time of the incidents in Hatfield and Souderton in 2007 and 2008. The defense suggested that the girl was making up stories or exaggerating, but the judge said he listened to her and watched her very carefully, she was very credible, and he was convinced that her testimony was not an act. The Pennsylvania Sexual Offender Assessment Board has found that she does not meet the criteria to be registered as a sexually violent predator, but she must report her address to state police in compliance with Megan’s Law once she is released from prison.
