A Montgomery County woman accused of allowing her cats to starve to death faces criminal charges. 50-year-old Patricia Wiehler is charged with multiple counts of cruelty to animals. The decomposing bodies of about 13 dead cats were found nearly two weeks ago at her townhouse on Whitpain Hills Drive in Whitpain Township. They had been confined there with no food or water, and the last cats to survive were apparently forced to feed on the others. The property manager called police after she went there to find the source of a foul odor. Wiehler told police she had not been at the house since early may because she was caring for her ailing mother.
