Hoax Mom Facing New Charges

wnpv_police_beatA Bucks County mother who admitted making up a phony story about being kidnapped is now in custody on federal charges. A grand jury indictment says 39-year-old Bonnie Sweeten of Feasterville stole more than $700,000 while working as a paralegal at a local law firm.  It accuses her of stealing from her employer and her ex-husband’s ailing grandfather, and stealing civil settlements awarded to a pair of teenage sex abuse victims and a number of other law firm clients.  She is charged with fraud, forgery and other offenses.  It says she forged documents including a driver’s license, passport and court order and forged signatures including those of her employer and a New Jersey judge.  Federal agents arrested her Friday, as soon as the Bucks County Prison released her.  She had just finished serving ten months for misdemeanor charges of identity theft and making false reports to police.  She pleaded guilty to those charges last year, telling the judge she had no explanation for why she fled to Walt Disney World with her nine-year-old daughter after concocting a story about two black men carjacking them and shoving them into the trunk of a Cadillac on Street Road in Southampton.
