2 Montco Bank Robberies In One Day

wnpv_police_beatTwo Montgomery County banks were robbed late Monday morning. They were the Harleysville Savings Bank branch in the Hillcrest Shopping Center on East Main Street in Lansdale, and the Wachovia Branch on Route 73 in Whitpain Township.  The suspect in the Lansdale job indicated he had a weapon, but did not show it.  He got a bag of money with a dye pack, which exploded in the parking lot.  He fled on foot across Main Street to a getaway car on Highland Avenue.  A surveillance camera picture shows a black man just under six feet tall with a stocky build and wearing a black Sixers #3 basketball jersey.  The suspect in the Whitpain job showed a handgun.  He is a white man 18 to 24 years old with reddish facial hair.  He also fled on foot to a waiting car.
