2 Charged In U Gwynedd Home-Invasion Shootout

gunTwo men are accused of taking part in an upper Gwynedd home-invasion that led to a shootout. 23-year-old Niochie Lawson of Maryland and 20-year-old Jakal Stone of no fixed address have been charged with robbery and other offenses.  The incident happened Wednesday night, June 9, at a home on Hancock Road near North Wales Road.  Police say five men who had been hiding in an outdoor shed ambushed 31-year-old Jermaine Edwards in his driveway as he arrived home with two daughters, ages nine and eleven, and forced them into the house at gunpoint.  Court documents say his wife, Jolene Edwards, called him while he was driving home to say the security alarm in the shed had gone off. He told her to get his Glock 9 millimeter handgun, which he slipped from her pocket inside the house. When she went upstairs to put the girls and a third daughter, age six, to bed, a gunfight broke out between her husband and the intruders, leaving one robber dead and two robbers and Edwards wounded. The two suspects charged so far were tracked down after receiving treatment for gunshot wounds at a Philadelphia hospital, where they were admitted under phony names.  Two others are still loose, and the investigation is continuing.  Jolene Edwards and her three daughters were not injured.  Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman says Jermaine Edwards was legally justified in using deadly force to protect himself and his family.
