Montco Judge Throws The Book At 6-Time DUI Offender

DDAn Upper Gwynedd man, convicted of drunken driving for the sixth time in ten years, has been given 2 ½ to 5 years in state prison. That’s the maximum allowed under the law.  A jury found 58-year-old Raymond Leight III of Garfield Avenue guilty of DUI earlier this year.  Police got on his trail after an employee at the North Penn Gulf station on Valley Forge Road called at about 10:30am in March of last year and said a man who just left in a Dodge Neon appeared to be intoxicated while pumping gas.  Police found him in the parking lot of a nearby Wawa store with a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and he could barely stand up.  He was also driving while his license was suspended for a prior DUI offense.  At his sentencing Thursday, Montgomery County Judge Thomas Rogers called him “an absolute danger to society.”
