Fire Sunday afternoon heavily damaged the C-J Robinson Company factory and warehouse on East Front Street in Bridgeport. More than 100 firefighters from more than 20 fire companies battled the blaze for nearly six hours until it was extinguished around 8:00 pm. Smoke was visible for miles around. In addition to smoke and flames, firefighters had to work through sweltering heat. E-M-S crews brought in fans and bottled water, and no one was injured. C-J Robinson makes petroleum-based wax, of the kind used in making candles, and a variety of specialty oil products. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
