Court Orders New Trial In Main Line Murder

montco_courthouseThe Pennsylvania Superior Court says a former Main Line chef convicted of killing his business partner nearly 14 years ago deserves a new trial. The court says 41-year-old Guy Sileo Junior’s conviction was tainted because Montgomery County Court jurors did not receive proper instructions on his alibi before they started deliberating.  He was found guilty of first degree murder in the shooting death of James Webb in his office at the General Wayne Inn, a historic Lower Merion landmark, on the day after Christmas in 1996.  Webb was 31 at the time.  Prosecutors argued at his trial that Sileo killed Webb to collect on a $650,000 life insurance policy because the business was failing.  The Superior Court Vacated Sileo’s life prison sentence and ordered a new trial.  The Montgomery County District Attorney’s office can appeal the ruling to the State Supreme Court.
