Lansdale Drug Takeback

pillsArea residents are urged to drop off unwanted or expired prescription drugs on Saturday of next week at Borough Hall. The Lansdale Police Department is conducting the drug take-back in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration.  Police Sergeant Alex Kromdyk says prescription drug abuse is a widespread problem among young teens and pre-teens who raid home medicine cabinets and take pills.

“The numbers are alarming, especially children 12 years old and older, that are becoming addicted to prescription medications.  They are either taking them from their own families out of the medicine cabinet or friends’ homes.”

He says they will also take illegal drugs, but they will not take names or arrest anyone.

“This is totally anonymous.  We will not try to identify anybody that comes to Borough Hall and turns over medications.”

Sergeant Kromdyk says they will take pills and other solid drugs, but no liquids.  Hours are 10:00am until 2:00pm Saturday, September 25, at Lansdale Borough Hall.  They can also be dropped off at the Hatfield Township Building during the same hours on the same day.
