Woman In Alleged Shooting Hoax Heading To Trial

beerA Hatfield Township woman accused of getting drunk and calling 911 with a phony report about shooting a man is heading for trial. 56-year-old Brenda Sellers waived her right to a preliminary hearing Thursday in Magisterial District Court, which means the case moves up to Montgomery County Court.  Police from six departments and the North Penn Tactical Response Team rushed to her home shortly after 5:00pm on a Wednesday in late August, when she allegedly called 911 and said she had just shot a man in the face and chest and killed him.  When police arrived at the home, on Oak Park Road near the Lansdale Presbyterian Church, they found her in her driveway.  Hatfield Township Police Chief Mark Toomey said there were no weapons and no injuries, and she fabricated the entire incident.  She is charged with public drunkenness, making false reports to police and other offenses.  A laboratory test showed that her blood alcohol level at the time of the incident was more than three times the legal limit for driving.
