Lansdale Love Triangle Case Heading To Supreme Court

gavelThe U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal from a Lansdale woman serving six years in federal prison for leaving deadly chemicals near her husband’s mistress. 38-year-old Carol Anne Bond is challenging the prosecution’s use of a fairly new federal law.  She has been locked up since her arrest more than three years ago.  She admitted stealing potentially deadly chemicals from her employer, while working as a laboratory technician at Rohm and Haas, and putting them on her rival’s front door handle and in her car’s tailpipe.  The other woman, Myrlinda Haynes of Norristown, was not injured.  Bond’s husband Clifford had a child with Haynes while married to bond.  In arguments last year before a federal appeals court in Philadelphia, her lawyer said the government overreached by using a law intended to deal with terrorists.  Robert Goldman said it was not intended for use against an angry housewife caught up in a love triangle, and he wants her conviction overturned.
