A Bucks County man has admitted stealing more than $100,000 from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia by filing false claims for psychotherapy to help him recover from childhood sexual abuse by priests. 42-year-old Michael McDonnell of Bristol pleaded guilty to theft, forgery and other offenses. His lawyer says two priests abused him when he was between the ages of 12 and 14. He also admitted stealing more than $9,000 in donations and payments to the Bucks County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, where he worked. Court documents say he gave the archdiocese receipts for 662 visits to a Willow Grove psychotherapist, but he only actually went once. The archdiocese reimbursed him for all of the sessions. The money went for such things as rent, housecleaning, and breast-enhancement treatments for his girlfriend.
