A man is accused of nearly running over two female JC Penney employees outside the Montgomery Mall as they tried to stop him from fleeing with stolen goods. 45-year-old Michael Freeman of North Street in Ambler is charged with robbery, retail theft and recklessly endangering another person. Court documents say he jumped into his car and threw it into reverse at a high speed when the women confronted him in the parking lot. He is charged with robbery because he allegedly put the women in fear of serious bodily injury. The incident happened about two weeks ago, and he was identified through surveillance camera pictures. He took $16 worth of men’s underwear and an unknown number of wallets, and he has four previous retail theft convictions.
