Man Charged In Towamencin Hit-Run

ShahA Hatfield man is accused of striking and seriously injuring a pedestrian and then driving away on Wednesday, March 23, in Towamencin Township. 54-year-old Mukesh Shah (pictured here) of West Vine Street in Hatfield is charged with causing an accident involving death or personal injury, giving false reports to police and other offenses.  The 36-year-old victim, Esther Lee, is hospitalized in critical condition.  The incident happened at about 6:00am on Forty Foot Road near Towamencin Avenue.  A witness told police he saw the victim walk into the headlight beam of a blue minivan behind him, and then he noticed a headlight on the minivan was out.  The van kept going and turned onto Sumneytown Pike.  The witness’s description and a license plate number led police to Shah’s blue Plymouth Voyager, which he denied driving that day, but his wife had already told police he drove it to work.
