Ex School Bus Driver Admits Causing Fatal Crash

montco_courthouseA former school bus driver has admitted causing a crash that left one man dead and another seriously injured. 39-year-old Frederick Poust of Schwenksville pleaded guilty Monday in Montgomery County Court to homicide by vehicle and recklessly endangering other persons, and prosecutors plan to seek jail time.  The crash occurred early last year when the bus and a car collided in front of the Perkiomen Valley West Middle School, on Route 73 near Swamp Creek Road in Zieglerville.  The dead man, 27-year-old Richard Taylor of Gilbertsville, was a passenger in a Honda Civic driven by his employer, 41-year-old contractor Freddy Carroll of Perkiomenville, who suffered serious injuries.  Police say Poust turned left in front of the Honda as he tried to enter school property.  Investigators found that he caused the crash by improperly entering the opposing traffic lane.  Onboard bus video shows him driving recklessly and running ten stop signs prior to the crash.
