A Lower Merion woman who whipped her ten-year-old son twelve times with an electrical cord for stealing two dollars from her has been given five years on probation. Prosecutors argued for jail time, but a Montgomery County judge said 33-year-old Sharomine Martin did it out of misguided love. The boy was found wandering around an Ardmore playground after the whipping in April of last year, still bleeding from his injuries. He now lives with his father.
