A Bucks County school bus driver is accused of being under the influence of alcohol while driving her bus during a minor collision three weeks ago. Bensalem Police say 45-year-old Kim Townsend, who lives in the Trevose section of the township, failed field sobriety tests after the bus ran into a stopped vehicle shortly after 4:00pm June 15 on Knights Road near Street Road. A laboratory test showed that her blood alcohol level was .19, which is more than twice the legal limit for driving. She is charged with driving a school bus after consuming alcohol or using drugs and endangering the welfare of children. No students were on the bus at the time, but she had just dropped off an unknown number at the Creekside Apartments on Knights Road.
