Guilty Plea In Franconia Hate Vandalism Case

One of four teenagers charged for hate-related vandalism in Franconia has admitted his role. 19-year-old Colin Ford of Upper Mainland Road in Lower Salford pleaded guilty to a felony charge of terroristic threats.  He will be sentenced after Montgomery County Court conducts a background investigation.  Franconia Township Police say a resident of the home, on Nectar Run in the Pear Tree Village development, arrived early one morning last winter and found swastikas, the word “Jew” and an ethnic slur painted on the home and two cars parked in the driveway.  The family living in the home is of Jewish descent.  17-year-old Shane Stewart of Anjou Court in Franconia also pleaded guilty to felony terroristic threats.  He was sent to a youth detention center, followed by time in a federal Job Corps program and a visit to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington.  He must also write an essay explaining what he learned from the museum visit.  That could be part of Ford’s sentence, and he also faces possible jail time.  A 17-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl were processed earlier as juveniles.  Court documents say the two girls were friends with the homeowner’s son, but the two boys did not like him.
