An Upper Gwynedd man accused of setting a neighbor’s home on fire to cover up a burglary has moved closer to trial in Montgomery County Court. At a brief appearance Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Harold Borek in Lansdale, his defense lawyer allowed the case to move forward. 43-year-old Jeffrey Streamer of Browning Court in Upper Gwynedd is charged with arson and other offenses in the Fourth of July fire that heavily damaged the home of Guy Malik, on Anders Road near Valley Forge Road in Towamencin Township. Police say he stole several items, and then poured gasoline inside the home and ignited it. No one was home at the time, and no one was injured. His lawyer asked for the case to be consolidated with another arson incident in Cheltenham the day after the Towamencin fire. In that case two fires were set at the Wyncote Academy, but an employee heard the alarm, grabbed a fire extinguisher and put them out.
