Teen Charged In Fatal DUI Crash Waives Hearing

McNicholasA Horsham teenager accused of crashing his car while driving drunk and killing two friends has moved closer to trial in Montgomery County Court. 19-Year-Old Connor McNicholas (pictured here) waived his preliminary hearing Monday.  His lawyer says they did not want grieving families to suffer more by hearing details of the crash.  He has pleaded not guilty to numerous offenses, including homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence.  Authorities say he had a blood alcohol level about 1 1/2 times the legal limit for adult drivers, or five times the legal limit for minors.  The crash, shortly before 1:30am on Saturday, August 6, killed Edward Coombs and Robert Nagel, both 19-year-old Hatboro-Horsham High School graduates.  Police Say McNicholas was driving at about 100 miles per hour when he ran his Honda Civic off of Witmer Road near Norristown Road in Horsham, striking several trees.  District Attorney Risa Ferman says the teens had attended a party where they were drinking alcohol, and police found open bottles of rum and brandy at the crash scene.
