Drug-Smuggling Pilot Found Guilty

James_HandzusA Montgomery County judge has found a private pilot guilty of smuggling drugs into the county. 51-year-old James Handzus (pictured here) and his 41-year-old then-girlfriend Tamara Vincent were arrested last April after trying to sell crystal methamphetamine to an undercover police officer.  He was convicted of possession with intent to deliver and other offenses on Tuesday, and she pleaded guilty on Monday.  Prosecutors say the two Colorado residents flew a Piper Comanche from Las Vegas to Wings Field in Whitpain Township and tried to sell a pound of the drug, with a street value of $27,000.  Handzus was returned to Montgomery County Prison where he has been since his arrest, unable to raise $500,000 cash bail.  He will be sentenced in January.
