Federal authorities have obtained a court order directing a Montgomery County-based bus company to cease all operations. The U.S. Transportation Department grounded Double Happyness Travel of Huntingdon Valley in December for violating safety rules covering vehicle maintenance, drug and alcohol testing, and hours of service by drivers, but the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration says the company kept on selling tickets and carrying passengers, and it will do everything it can to remove unsafe bus companies from the roads.
A restraining order was delivered to the China Bowl restaurant in Huntingdon Valley, which apparently serves as the bus company’s headquarters. It catered to Asian-Americans and provided service between the Midtown Manhattan and Chinatown sections of New York and several other cities including Philadelphia.
