Jurors from outside Montgomery County will be brought in for the trial of a Souderton man accused of killing a young girl. Judge William Carpenter granted a defense request on the grounds that extensive media coverage in the county would prevent 25-year-old James Troutman from getting a fair and impartial jury of county residents. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court determines the county where jurors will be picked.
Troutman is charged with first and second degree murder, kidnapping and rape of a child in the death of nine-year-old Skyler Kauffman. She was abducted in May of 2011 after playing with friends in a parking lot outside the Souderton Gardens Apartments where she lived with her mother and grandmother. Troutman lived in the same complex.
