An elderly woman who trusted her neighbor to do the right thing unfortunately found out that neighbor, 65-year-old, Virginia Marquardt, put her own interests ahead of the elderly woman she promised to help. Bensalem Police say, Marquardt went on a 300-thousand dollar spending spree with the woman’s savings, money that was earmarked for her at a continuing care facility. Police say, instead of paying the bills, she purchased a vehicle, vacations and used the money to pay her property taxes. If convicted, Marquardt could face 35-years in prison.
