The New Jersey police officer who holed up in a Doylestown Township home from early Sunday afternoon until late at night, firing a gun several times, wanted to die. Court documents say he was trying to commit “Suicide by Cop.”
He sent his parents a text message during the standoff saying, “This is the way I want to die.” In an e-mail to his ex wife he said, “I get angry at this job and law enforcement and it’s them who I will take out my anger on.”
42-year-old Richard Klementovich is charged with 85 counts of numerous criminal offenses including attempted homicide. He is being held at Bucks County Prison on $1 million bail, and even if he raises the money he cannot be released until he has a psychiatric evaluation.
