Ex Montco Cop Busted For Drugs

Jack_PenningtonA Retired Norristown Police Detective Sergeant is accused of dealing illegal drugs. Montgomery County Detectives started investigating 66-year-old Jack Pennington (pictured here) in March after they received an anonymous tip.

On Tuesday, June 19, they kept him under surveillance as he drove his 2006 Cadillac around meeting with suspected customers.  Late in the afternoon they followed him to the Plymouth Meeting Mall and arrested him after he met with his supplier.

They found a paper bag at the scene that contained three ounces of crystal methamphetamine, worth about $17,000 on the street, and nearly $7,000 in cash.  They also found a “retired” Norristown Police badge in his pocket.

A search of his car turned up more suspected drugs and paraphernalia, a fully loaded Smith and Wesson .38 caliber handgun and more than $1,500 in cash, and a search of his home on Ross Road in Upper Merion turned up more paraphernalia and four more handguns.  He is being held at Montgomery County Prison in lieu of $2 million bail.
