Boston Bus Crash Hurts 35 In Bucks Co Group

35 people traveling with a Bucks County nonprofit group were injured Saturday night when a bus they were riding in hit an overhead bridge in Boston.

Four people were seriously injured, including Neshaminy High School Sophomore Matt Cruz.

The passengers were all high school students and their adult chaperones traveling with the Destined for a Dream Foundation, a Bristol-based organization that helps underprivileged young people live healthy lifestyles and learn leadership skills.

They spent the day visiting Harvard University and eating, shopping and sight-seeing at Harvard Square.

They had just started the trip back home when the bus, chartered through Calvary Coach of Philadelphia, struck the bridge on Soldier’s Field Road, a major highway that runs alongside the Charles River.

The bus company owner says the 66-year-old driver, Samuel Jackson of Philadelphia, did not know about a ten-foot height restriction on the road, and he missed several warning signs.

He says Jackson looked down at his GPS device, and when he looked back up he was too close to the bridge to avoid hitting it.
