Toomey Predicts Fun Campaign

wnpv_politicsThe Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate Seat Arlen Specter will vacate in January, former Congressman Pat Toomey, says Congressman Joe Sestak proved he can run an effective campaign in his Democratic Primary Election victory over Specter. “This was an impressive victory.  It was a come-from-behind campaign and it was quite a win.  I also want to tell you the truth.  I’m excited about a campaign with Joe Sestak.  I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Toomey says they had many differences, but Specter has worked very hard during his 30-year career as a senator.  Franklin and Marshall College Center for Politics and Public Affairs Director Terry Madonna says he agrees with Toomey that the race will be fun for people who follow politics.

“I think it’s going to be a brutal contest.  It’s probably a no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners kind of campaign.  The ideological cleavage, the ideological divide between the two, is very sharp, very drawn.  There’s no middle ground here.”

Doctor Madonna says Sestak will go after Toomey’s Wall Street past while defending President Barack Obama, and it should shape up into a classic battle that will rock the state.
