State Senate Transportation Committee members were surprised to learn that all Pennsylvania Turnpike employees get to ride the road without paying tolls, even for personal traveling. That’s unlimited free travel for more than 2,000 people. The matter came up during a hearing on transportation funding. Committee Chairman John Rafferty, who represents part of Montgomery County, says the public does not want that type of use, and if the Turnpike Commission doesn’t end the free rides lawmakers will.
