Towamencin officials are standing firm when it comes to adopting environmental mandates from Harrisburg. Wednesday night the township supervisors refused to amend the recycling ordinance forcing all residents to hire a trash hauler. The amendment would have also required recycling containers at events that attract more than 200 spectators. Township Supervisor Chairman Dan Littley says state elected officials will be told at a meeting Friday that environmental regulators in Harrisburg need to be reined in. He also says there has not been a meeting with state officials about recycling regulations since last June and a written clarification of the issues promised by an environmental regulator still has not arrived.
