Lansdale officials are stepping up to make sure Borough Manager Timi Kirchner and Council President Matt West have legal representation as they defend themselves against a civil lawsuit filed by former North Penn Center for the Performing Arts Executive Director Marja Kaisla. Her position was terminated by the North Penn Regional Council of the Arts last April and she is suing Kirchener and West along with the Council of the Arts and its former directors Bob Kerns and Dale Murphy. Lansdale officials say the borough insurance carrier should foot the bill for the legal defense but if it balks borough council has authorized Solicitor Mark Hosterman to defend Kirchner and West. The two Lansdale officials were named in the suit as members of the North Penn Regional Council of the Arts though borough officials say they were never properly appointed.
