Republican businessman Dee Adcock of Abington says he’s running for the 13th district congressional seat against incumbent Democrat Allyson Schwartz not only because she does not represent his views, but also because he believes very strongly in capitalism. “Capitalism has produced the greatest amount of wealth that the world has ever seen, yet right now our country is moving toward more of a social welfare state, spreading the pie around theoretically, not growing the pie any longer, just cutting it up in different ways. These are all distressing to me and a fundamental reason that I’m running.”
Adcock says Schwartz and the Democrats who control both houses of congress see business as something they can tax and tax to raise money and grow the government. He says the rest of the world is moving toward capitalism at a time when the United States, which was built on capitalism, is moving away from it. The 13th District is partly in Montgomery County and partly in Northeast Philadelphia. He appeared Wednesday on the WNPV talk program Comment Please by Univest.
