Perkasie Passes Curfew

gavelPerkasie Borough Council has approved a curfew for minors, similar to one Quakertown council passed about four years ago. It bars anyone under the age of 18 from being on the streets, or in restaurants or other public places, between 11:00pm and 5:00am Sunday through Thursday and midnight and 5:00am weekends.  They are allowed out if they are with a parent or guardian and for emergencies, work, or school, church or club events.  It also has a sunset clause, which means council will review it after a year to see if it’s working.  Police Chief Joseph Gura has told council the curfew is just one more tool to keep the borough and its children safe.  Similar ordinances in Hatboro and Souderton are rarely enforced.
