The Montgomery County Commissioners have ordered an engineering study to determine the condition of the parking garage under the courthouse in Norristown. Cracks and holes as deep as two or three inches are visible throughout the 42-year-old garage, and parts of it will probably have to be closed. The building across Swede Street where the commissioners have their offices, One Montgomery Plaza, also needs repairs. A study of its condition is underway, and it should be finished in a few weeks. The latest problem there is with the brick façade, which has started separating from the rest of the building in spots, mostly because of water damage. Nets have been installed around areas with loose bricks to prevent them from falling onto the sidewalk.
