Teva Pharmaceuticals USA will build a National Distribution Center on Red Lion Road in Northeast Philadelphia. Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz says two suburban sites the company considered, on Willow Grove Naval Air Station property and at County Line Road and Limekiln Pike in Warrington, are out of the picture.
“The local community very actively rejected them in Horsham. It was very clear that Horsham Township did not want them there. They were concerned about traffic, so they went on and looked in Bucks County in Warrington, where the local community was also concerned that there would be traffic.”
Schwartz says construction on the $300 million project at the old Budd site in Northeast Philadelphia will start in the spring and take about two years. The three-building complex will have about 200 jobs when it opens, and will expand to about 500 jobs over five years. Teva will keep its North American Headquarters at Horsham and Hartman Roads in Montgomery Township, and will not build anything on the Warrington site.
