Two Townships Plan Wastewater Treatment Plant Study

BathroomThe Towamencin Township Supervisors and Upper Gwynedd Township Commissioners are moving ahead with plans for a study of the wastewater treatment plant they operate jointly. Its 50-year charter expires in 2014, and officials want to make sure they know its condition and operating efficiency before they enter a new agreement.  Towamencin Township Manager Rob Ford says the study is a proactive step.

“The elected officials in both townships think it’s a good idea, and so does the authority there, to have a third party come in and look at it and say what kind of improvements need to be made.  Obviously we’re not going to shut down the sewer plant.  This is sort of a due diligence process so the two townships can see how much this is going to cost and how we can fund it over the next several years.”

Ford says a Request for Proposals to do the study will go out in January or February, and the two townships will split the cost.
