Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz (pictured here), whose district is partly in Montgomery County and partly in Northeast Philadelphia, says the shooting two weeks ago in Arizona that left six people dead and Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords critically wounded was very distressing to all members of congress. She says Giffords was a colleague and a friend, and all of the good things people have said about her are true.
“She’s a really likeable, lovely, smart, conscientious, caring congresswoman and friend. I wish her Godspeed as she will go through what will probably be months of rehabilitation, and many of us were just devastated when we heard about the shooting and targeting of a member of congress during a public event, and the fact that a member of her staff and average citizens who just went out to talk to a member of congress were gunned down.”
Schwartz says she understands that some people disagree with her very strongly, and they should be able to tell her that, but it should be done in a way that respects differences of opinion. She appeared Monday on the WNPV talk program Comment Please by Univest.
