The Towamencin Township Supervisors are forming a committee to look at ways of filling empty space at the Towamencin Shopping Village and other commercial centers. Anchor stores at opposite ends of the shopping center, a Genuardi’s and a Sears Hardware, have both closed. Chairman Dan Littley says they hope to find out why businesses want to locate in the township, and also look at the other side of the picture.
“We’ll talk to some businesses that looked at Towamencin and decided not to come here and determine why they decided not to come here. Are there things we could do to be more business-friendly?”
Littley says the committee could have its first meeting later this month, but first they need five developers or other business leaders to join two supervisors on the panel.
