Toomey: Military Trial For Terrorists Is Right Thing

pat-toomeyPennsylvania U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (pictured here) says the Obama Administration did the right thing in deciding to try accused 9-11 attack mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four others before a military tribunal, not a civilian court. “We should not be giving them a civilian trial in the civilian courts, and the main reason I’ve felt that way is because of the rules regarding evidence in a civilian trial.  These rules require the prosecution to disclose to the defense, in this case enemies who are trying to kill us, to disclose to them the information that we have and how we got it, and when we got it and from whom we got it.”

Toomey says disclosing that kind of information to terrorists, who are sworn to kill as many Americans as possible, is madness.  He says a military tribunal can give a fair trial without endangering U.S. security.  He appeared Tuesday on the WNPV talk program Comment Please by Univest.
